I have always been a hands-on learner and I love how the IT field involves a lot of hands-on activities. I found Herzing大学’s IT program to be unique because we actually worked with many of the systems we were learning about in class and practiced with the different equipment we had, like the routers and the switches.
For me, the most challenging part was transitioning into the IT field after being in nursing school for two years. It was difficult learning how a computer actually works and the various networking protocols.
Herzing’s instructors push you and take time out of their day to help you succeed, even sometimes on their days off. My instructors were always willing to tutor me and help me whenever I was struggling. There were days I wanted to give up, but my instructor Linda Johnson did not let that happen. She encouraged me and pushed me. Even on the days I did not feel like going to school, she would call me to check on me.
I also started working on my resume with the help of Ayana Evans. This helped me start applying for several IT jobs and I received multiple interviews and job offers before graduation.
